Lifelong Support

We provide ongoing, as‑needed virtual coaching for behavioral modification, herding training, and general management for the life of your dog. In person coaching is provided where and when deemed appropriate.

We will take back any Henam dog, for any reason, always. If at any point you cannot keep your Henam dog, for any reason, the dog must be returned to us; private rehoming or surrender to a shelter or rescue is not permitted under our contract. Our responsibility is to the dog above all else.

Honest Assessment & Matching

When choosing a dog or puppy, a forthright assessment will be provided. Every dog must find the only fit.

To ensure that fit is found, we conduct an initial interview, then one or more in‑person meetings to finalize the assessment, along with any necessary requests for pictures or relevant documentation of the dog’s prospective environment.

Breeding rights are restricted until a minimum of 24 months of age and a formal evaluation with written approval.

Training & Socialization

Each puppy has received a minimum of 200 hours of structured training and neurological stimulation, with a focus on herding‑instinct activation, recall, desensitization, and handler rapport.

Healthcare Before Placement

Puppies are vaccinated with Nobivac Edge DAPPV + Lepto4 and Nobivac Lyme, dewormed every three weeks, and started on Interceptor Plus and (when appropriate) Bravecto. Current litters are fed Inukshuk Pro Marine 26/16 (for the omega 3 content) & Purina Pro Plan High Protein Wet Food. Progenitors are genetically tested using Orviet, Embark or Animal Genetics. Lines are chosen specifically to avoid osteoarthritic issues. The dogs going back at least several generations in a progenitor’s pedigree must be sound of hip and joint and have demonstrated working ability well into senior years. This requires significant research, testing, and evaluation before each and every breeding.

Adoption Fee

Puppies are $2500-$3500. Any dog that does not meet our rigorous standards is placed at a significant discount or with no fee.

Every puppy leaves our care with the Henam Pledge.

once in a lifetime litter

6 puppies (3m/3f) were born on 10/10/25. From the day of their advent, they explored, cried out, struggled, and strove. It was a marvel to behold: such vigorous, well developed puppies each endowed with an inimitable configuration of talents, traits, and spirit. Their gifts for herding emerged early and consistently. Their focus at 5 weeks old was prodigious, sustaining unbroken herding activity for up 25 minutes! These incandescent creatures are grandpups of Dean McAuley’s Joe and Dewi Jenkins Clwyd Bob, and the greatgrand pups of Martin Feeney’s indomitable Jack, James McCloskey’s ever celebrated Sweep, and H.J. Francis’ powerful Glan Y Gors Tadgh. Bob, Joe, Jack, Sweep have competed in the International Supreme Herding trial on multiple occasions, and Joe and Jack in particular are tough as nails hill dogs; although we do not condone the practice, it may be worth noting that the offspring of Bob, Joe, Jack, Sweep are often sold at auction for tens of thousands of dollars so desirable are their bloodlines. Each puppy has received over a minimum of approximately 350 hours of training and neurological stimulation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only litter to unite these four exemplary dogs.

The Sire of our current litter is Peter from Thundering Paws Farm. One of only two external sires from European lines that currently meet Henam’s rigorous standards. Peter is sui generis, a working dog with the most remarkable stocksense, intensity, and style. Peter’s particular gift is the combination of virtuosic athleticism, perfect biddability, and an almost supernatural power of concentration.

The Dam of our current litter is Henam’s Maeve. Her intensity, intelligence, and capacity for real, tough work on sheep or cattle is extraordinary. As Henam’s matriarch, Maeve rules over the program with equanimity, fortitude, and precision. Her personality is inimitable, a once in a generation leader. Most mothers forget their pups after weaning, but Maeve continues to protect her (nearly) five month old puppies with a pride and conviction unique to her. Maeve is never the servant or the mindless robot, but the fierce, independent thinker who, when appropriately petitioned, grants her gifts to the handler and livestock that hold them in requisition.

Raseus, at 19 weeks, with all the power, style, agility, focus and control that we look for in a Henam dog. He is gritty like his mother Maeve and intense like his father Peter.
